A session about the EOSC will be held on 18 June 2019 at TNC, the largest and most prestigious European research and education networking conference. Cathrin Stover and Natalia Manola from the EOSC Executive Board are going to chair the panel.
European Open Science Cloud (EOSC): It’s a brave new world - creating and supporting digital Communities
Over recent years, the vision of Open Science has developed, defining a world of transparent, data-driven science capable of accelerating competitiveness and innovation.
The embodiment of this vision in Europe is the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), first proposed in April 2016 as part of the Communication on the ‘European Cloud Initiative’, making it one of the pillars of European Commission’s Digital Single Market Strategy. In order to make this vision a reality a number of implementation projects are in place and you will find out more about them during this interactive session.

We aim to demonstrate how EOSC supports pan-European digital societies and wider communities and also showcase existing and fledgling National initiatives and collaborations. You will also learn more about how Research and Education communities can benefit from current and future European Open Science Cloud initiatives and how you can get involved.

TNC brings together decision makers, managers, networking and collaboration specialists, plus identity and access management experts from all major European networking and research organisations, universities and worldwide sister institutions, as well as numerous industry representatives. TNC registered a record attendance of more than 750 participants in 2018.
Through keynotes speeches by renowned specialists, parallel sessions, demonstrations, talks and posters, TNC presents participants with a unique overview of the latest developments in research networking, both in the technical field and in the area of application and management.
TNC19, the conference’s 35th edition, will be hosted by EENet of HITSA, the Estonian Education and Research Network. EENet is a structural unit of HITSA (Information Technology Foundation for Education) whose main role is to ensure the development and stable functioning of the information technology infrastructure necessary for research, education and culture in Estonia. EENet ensures the functioning of a data network corresponding to the specific needs of Estonian academic institutions, the provision of data communications and content services and their development. The conference will be held in Tallinn, Estonia’s capital city.
