Webinar on FAIR, digital preservation and EOSC

Location:
Online I Zoom

START: 18 Mar 2021
END: 18 Mar 2021

The Digital Preservation Coalition is hosting a webinar, "FAIR Forever? FAIRer for Longer: Digital Preservation and the European Open Science Cloud", on 18th March from 14:00-16:00 UTC. This webinar will discuss digital preservation strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats relating to FAIR data within the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) and in the research community more broadly.

It will draw from the recently published DC study "FAIR Forever? Long Term Data Preservation Roles and Responsibilities", commissioned by the EOSC Sustainability Working Group and funded by the EOSC Secretariat Project in 2020, highlighting key findings relating to digital preservation capacity and recommended coordinated actions by repositories, researchers, and stakeholders to better ensure the long-term preservation of- and access to-research data in all its forms.

The webinar will begin with overviews of EOSC, FAIR, and the FAIR Forever study findings and recommendations, followed by a panel session where a select group of leaders and representatives will be invited to reflect on their work and challenges that preservation and sustainability create. There will also be time for Q&A and larger discussion among attendees.

The webinar will be of interest to researchers, repository managers, developers, data producers, libraries, archivists, research data managers, digital preservation managers, educators, policymakers and other practitioners working with research data and outputs at their organisation.
